Renfe returns to normal after weekend rail chaos

Renfe reported this Monday that traffic in the Atocha-Chamartín high-speed tunnel thanks to the authorization of one of the tracks. In addition, they indicated that the trains that connect Madrid with the Valencian Community and Murcia “will begin or end their journey in Madrid Chamartín”, with the exception of “two early morning services”, trains AVLO 5668 and AVLO 5064 .

Likewise, traffic was restored on a road between Madrid Chamartín and Jardín Botánico, on the high-speed road that connects Chamartín and Puerta de Atocha. Train circulation on the Madrid-Levante high-speed line is another of the lines returning to normal.

Ramón Blanco, president of Renfe, said the following: “There were fewer incidents if the data is taken coldly, but they were more publicized because they occurred in more tense areas, like Chamartín and Atocha. Apologize to the passengers.

The problems arose from 2 different events: the derailment of a train without passengers in a tunnel and the suicide attempt of a person who threatened to commit suicide by jumping from a footbridge, at an unauthorized access point.

Expanding News.
