“Institutional deterioration cannot be ignored”

The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, will not meet Pedro Sánchez at La Moncloa. His office has just announced this decision. “The institutional deterioration to which Spain is subject cannot be ignored,” says the PP political team in a press release, after the President of the Government summoned Ayuso this Friday, October 25. A meeting that is part of a series of bilateral meetings with regional presidents with emphasis on regional financing after complaints about the economic agreement for Catalonia and with other issues on the table such as immigration, infrastructure, investments or the territorial debate.

Ayuso justifies his refusal by assuring that this meeting “is being held as part of a series of meetings following the negotiation of the dissolution of the Common Treasury of all Spaniards with the government’s independence partners. A pact which promises to be fatal for the rule of law, the unity of Spain and solidarity between the regions.

“Therefore, this decision cannot be considered valid based on accomplished facts that have never been consulted either with the regional presidents or with the Spanish people in any electoral program. We cannot normalize what is not normal”, declares the presidential team in a press release. And it adds: “Since the last legislative elections, a series of destructive decisions have been taken whose negative effects will take a long time to reverse.”
