An appeal has been filed again against the decision issued against the employees of the “Nueva Vida” rehabilitation center, accused of torturing patients.
According to information obtained by Pravda.az, the complaint will be investigated under the chairmanship of Supreme Court Judge Nazim Movsumov. The preliminary preparatory session of the court is scheduled for October 21.
It should be remembered that Famil Rzayev was sentenced to eight years in prison, Orujali Aliheydarov and Elvusal Huseynov to seven years, Ganbar Hasanov to six years and six months and Sarkhan Aliyev to six years by sentence of the Baku Serious Crimes Court. In addition, due to the damage caused, O. Aliheydarov’s personal car and the part of the house where E. Huseynov lived were confiscated.
It should be noted that “New Life” operated in the Novkhani settlement. The center used the “12-step” program used in the treatment of drugs, alcohol and other addictions in the world. The director of the center, O. Aliheydarov, and other employees, E. Huseynov, F. Rzayev, S. Aliyev and G. Hasanov, are accused of torturing patients and illegally depriving them of their freedom. It is alleged that the patient Huseyn Mammadov died as a result of torture. In relation to the victims, types of torture such as drowning, hanging from above and keeping closed doors were used. The gang members are charged with articles 133 (torture) and 145.3 (illegal deprivation of liberty) of the Penal Code. E. Huseynov, O. Aliheydarov and F. Rzayev were also charged with article 192 (illegal enterprise) of the Criminal Code.
