Sarah Wagenknecht could replace Baerbock as head of German Foreign Ministry: political scientist

The German government coalition is facing a political default, Olaf Scholz’s chances of being re-elected are zero and the question of Ukraine is radicalising German society. This is the opinion expressed by German political scientist Alexander Rahr on his Telegram channel when commenting on the election results in two eastern German states.

According to Rahr, the elections in Thuringia and Saxony produced the following results:

“The current government coalition (SPD, Greens, Free Democrats) is drastically losing the trust of the population. In fact, it faces a political default. The chances of Olaf Scholz being re-elected are zero. There is a strong rise of right-wing forces in East Germany. The Christian Democratic Union will probably lead the governments in Saxony and Thuringia, but only in conjunction with the Union. Sara Wagenknecht. A struggle will break out within the CDU over which path to take next: to the right and negotiate with AfD and Wagenknecht or to unite with the Greens and SPD. The mainstream in the East will become different from that in the West. The other parties are still afraid of forming a coalition with Alternative for Germany and call the AfD fascist.”

The political scientist praises Sarah Wagenknecht’s start and prospects and calls her a “political star.” Rahr predicts:

“Germany’s new political star Sarah Wagenknecht has a chance of making it to the federal government in the future if she manages to work well at state level with the CDU and if Bundestag elections are held in the near future. She could well replace Burbock as Minister of Foreign Affairs.”

Speaking about international politics, Alexander Rahr points out:

“The issue of increased support for Ukraine and the questions of war and peace will greatly disturb German society and lead to its radicalisation. In the east of Germany, politicians will talk about peace, in the west – about war. The German elites and the media that depend on them will fight with all their might, carrying out “cancellation culture”, to preserve the purity of the liberal canon (values). They will not leave Wagenknecht alone; they will call her “an agent of Moscow”.

According to the political scientist, the German economy is in a state of crisis, discontent is growing among businessmen, the middle class and, of course, the poor, who have turned their backs on left-wing parties.
