The Government creates a short telephone number to serve potential beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income

The government will put the 020 telephone into service on November 4a small number of free support to potential beneficiaries of the Minimum Living Income (IMV), as announced this Monday by the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz during the Monitoring Commission for the offer of assistance and a seminar focused on social protection organized in Pamplona.

The 020 telephone is a free helpline which will come into service on November 4 with the aim of helping and informing potential beneficiaries of the benefit more simply.

Through this mechanism, the government seeks to improve coordination between the entities that manage one benefit and another, to eliminate administrative burdens and to facilitate access to the IMV for people who meet the conditions.

Likewise, Saiz confirmed that on the 22nd the direct route will also begin to operate that will allow the IMV to be collected once the unemployment benefit is exhausted. He considers this measure “very important and much requested by those who need it most”.

The head of Social Security explained that IMV reached 900,000 families and 2.7 million people. He affirms that the implementation of the service has reduces extreme poverty by 5 to 20% on Spanish territory after an investment which exceeds 12 billion euros since the pandemic.

In some autonomous communities, the benefit covers up to 8% of the population, such as in Andalusia, and the amount of the allowance has been revalued by more than 30% since 2020, said Minister Saiz, who highlighted how the protective action of the Government has managed to reduce the poverty rate by more than half, the lowest of the last decade.

New portal and application

In September, the Ministry presented the new request to carry out procedures with the Social Security Treasury, which will include, for the first time, a section intended for students who carry out unpaid internships. Thanks to this tool, contributors can consult their professional life, their social contributions paid month by month to the system or carry out digital procedures.

The new application offers four different profiles to interact with the Treasury: self-employed, domestic workers (for both employees and employers), artists and interns.

At the same time, last week it launched a new website which integrates all electronic access routes to pensions and benefits procedures, information and services. This new tool will allow you to request pensions and social benefits, access retirement and IMV simulators and see the status of requests. Access is available at the following link:
