There is no consensus in the commission on the opening of communications from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia

“The tripartite commission of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia for the opening of regional communications does not continue its meetings due to non-consensus issues.”

Oku.AzAccording to , this was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Mger Grigoryan at a briefing in the Armenian Parliament.

“No, the meetings are not continuing. You know that there are fundamental issues that must be agreed upon. There is no point in discussing the details if there is no consensus,” he said in response to the journalist’s pertinent question.

The tripartite commission was created in early 2021 at the meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow. They decided to create a working group at the level of deputy prime ministers of the three countries, which will focus on establishing economic and transport relations in the region.

The most important issue of regional communications remains the creation of a connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Metropolitan Region through the Armenian province of Sunik. The Armenian side claims that this can only happen in accordance with Armenia’s domestic legislation.
