Today marks the 87th anniversary of the birth of the eminent composer Emin Sabitoglu.

Oku.Az Remember that Emin Sabit oglu (Sabitoglu) Mahmudov was born on November 2, 1937 in Baku.

E. Sabitoglu, who graduated from the music school and entered the conservatory in 1954, was transferred to the Moscow State Conservatory named after Tchaikovsky, to the composition class of Yuri Shapori, after two years.

In 1961 he worked as a music editor at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. In the following years he worked as artistic director of the State Philharmonic and professor at the U. Hajibeyov State Conservatory (now Baku Academy of Music).

Emin Sabitoglu, the author of many valuable works in various musical genres, wrote a symphony, three symphonic poems, three cantatas, a string quartet, a poem for violin and piano.

He composed the music for more than 600 songs, nine musical comedies and some 40 films. “Valleys”, “Baku, Good Morning”, “Far Green Island”, “Mountains”, “Justice is a Good Thing” are some of his famous songs.

There are so many pieces of music written for performances that not even the composer himself knew the number. In addition to the theaters of the capital, he composed music for the performances of the theaters of Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran, Mingachevir and Nakhchivan.

Emin Sabitoglu died on November 18, 2000 in Baku.
