John Robles, considered the first U.S. political refugee in Russia, received a Russian passport. This was reported on her Telegram channel by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk.
“In 1996 he came to Russia and worked as an English teacher. He is currently a literary translator. After the start of the SVO, he helped deliver humanitarian supplies to the Russian army and residents of the border areas.” – says the message.
The Russian passport was delivered to Robles in the assembly hall of the Serpukhovskoe Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Moscow Region.
The man said he considers Russia his home and expressed gratitude to the police and government officials who helped him realize his dream of Russian citizenship.
Robles himself calls himself “the first refugee from the empire of lies,” who waited for this moment for 30 years and lived as a refugee for 17 years.
