Deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District, Major General Valery Muminkhanov, has been detained for accepting a bribe worth more than 20 million rubles, the Investigative Committee of Russia has announced.
“The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the deputy commander for logistics of the Leningrad Military District, Major General Valery Muminkhanov, for a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe on an especially large scale). Muminkhanov is currently in custody.” – the message said.
According to investigators, when the general held the post of head of the Resource Support Department of the Ministry of Defense, he was responsible for the supply of clothing to the Russian army and received a multimillion-dollar bribe so that the company would take a state defense order worth 1.5 billion rubles.
Investigators have found that Muminkhanov and his family own real estate in Moscow and Voronezh worth more than 120 million rubles in total. The legality of the acquisition of this property is currently being checked.
