“The presidential memorandum announced by Washington Today reflects the escalation in aggression and economic blockade, and this is a great obstacle to our development,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Cuban Minister Bruno Barias on the post on the platform “X”, adding that he “violates the rights of the whole country”.

The note states that, according to the official statement published on the web site of the White House, to restore the tough approach to Cuba, followed by the Trump administration in his first time, while canceling the steps of the rapprochement taken by the Presidential Administration Joe Biden.

The document includes a complete ban on direct and indirect financial transactions with companies related to the Cuban military institution led by the Gaesa group, for limited exceptions only in cases that serve American political goals or provide direct support to the Cuban people.

The memorandum also tightened the restrictions imposed on a trip to Cuba, including a ban on tourism from the United States, imposing mandatory verification and maintaining financial reports related to trips for at least five years.

Trump also confirmed the rejection of the previous policy aimed at encouraging immigration from Cuba, under the pretext of “preventing illegal and dangerous immigration.”

The American administration confirmed its adherence to the ongoing siege imposed on Cuba and rejected any steps to raise it within the United Nations or other international bodies, emphasizing the support of “free cube” and promoting individual freedoms, including the freedom of the press, expanding access to the Internet and supporting an independent private sector.

The memorandum also included Washington’s intention to conduct a comprehensive consideration of cases of violation of human rights in Cuba, including illegal arrests and poor treatment of prisoners, in addition to preparing the list of the desired persons for the American judiciary, which, according to Washington, say that they are protected by the Cuban authorities.
