Jakarta Archbishop, Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo, remembered the journey of Pope Franciscus in Indonesia last year. He called Pope happy while he was in Indonesia.
This was told by Cardinal Suharyo during a press conference in Graha Pemuda, the Cathedral Church of Jakarta. He spoke Mulan about simplicity inherent Pope Francis, even during apostolic visits in Jakarta on 3-5 September 2024.
“When we arrived in Indonesia, we all knew that the choice was not a luxury car, the car that was most used by the people here,” he said, Monday (21-4-2025).

Cardinal Suharyo then said he was once in a car with Pope Francis. At that moment, he said, the pope was happy with the person of the Indonesian people.
“I have twice in one car with him, he always told me that he was very happy to be in Indonesia, very happy,” Suharyo said.
“Because of what? He always said that I always saw the faces with a smile that there were no frightening faces that were angry, always with a smile,” he continued.
He also said that the leader of the World Catholic Church could communicate with his director. According to Suharyo Pope Francis’s conversation with his driver took place as a friend.
“He is very happy to say here:” Please stop here, “” Where is the candy, “given by the driver, given the children,” Suharyo said.
“I thought about bringing candy to be shared. The pride of children who are happy does not play, maybe the candy is never eaten to be stored in one way or another,” he went on.
Pope Franciscus died on Monday (4/21) at the age of 88 after greeting the people on Easter Day earlier. Pope Francis was treated in the hospital for a month for pneumonia.
