The time of revenge has come!” Petra Sturm and Georg Spalle preceded this paragraph of the laws of the female gymnastics club since 1851 according to anthology, which they published in Sport and feminism. A good quote, it expresses as a combat awareness of this topic, is a sign of how many years – and yet it is forgotten undeservedly forgotten.
Recently, there have been a lot of feminism, even in sports. Women require in sports that they rightly require in other social areas. And again and again it can be read and heard that there is so much progress about how bad everything is and that all the requirements will soon be achieved.
A good reason for anthology, which creates a theoretical and reflective contribution from certain historical eras. The group documents that not only has a long story that seems to us as a new topic. It also shows that in the past – and today, of course, in a cultural context, that Western European readers are not so familiar – have already received answers and suggestions that have the current meaning.

Journalist of Peter Sturm and historian Georg Spartal, both from Austria, begin their theoretical raid in the 1890s. This is understandable, because during this period the sport, as we know it with its clubs, associations, leagues, records and championships, prevailed, and because it was also accompanied by a pushing women from this new phenomenon. The second “key phase” is located in a flat and spital in the 1920s, with massive sports and the concept of a “new woman”. The third era begins after 1968 with a new female movement. Finally, there is a review of current gender debates about sports.

In this category, such a text as “Her Sex Champion” since 1896, where an American named Nelly reports her daily battles, which also included a bicycle.
Or the contribution “The Liberation of Women from Sports”, which Maria German Kramer published in the Social Democratic newspaper in 1929. Or, quite rising, the essay “Sports Paul: Hyperbolic embodiment and/or overcoming the binary gender order”, which Judith Batler 1998, which is unusual with the importance of the author, has not yet been in it.
Historical finds and smart tests
