Three people died and four were injured this Monday afternoon in a work accident in Benifairó de les Valls (Valencia) in which a truck had brake problems, collided with two vans and crushed several people who were working in a local orchard.
The accident notification was received around 4 p.m. at the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU), warning that a truck with brake problems had knocked down several people.
As municipal sources explained to Europa Press, the accident occurred when the truck of an orange picking company had a brake problem on a narrow and steep road in the orchard, causing several workers to be crushed.
The CICU mobilized a medical helicopter, two SAMU units, two Basic Life Support (BLS) units and a primary care medical team.
As a result of the accident, three people died and four others were injured to varying degrees. The four injured were transferred to different hospitals.
At the scene of the accident, the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Valencia moved troops from the Sagunt Park with a sergeant, from the Pobla de Farnals and the officer of the provincial corps.
At 6:15 p.m., the firefighters wait for the arrival of the Judicial Police to evacuate a person trapped under the truck.
The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, said he was “dismayed” by the event and sent his “most sincere condolences” to the victims.
It also provided the municipality with all the resources necessary to treat the injured.
