They wanted to buy a car, they spent a million manats.

The next trial was held in the capital in the criminal case against Farid Jalalov and Kamil Habilli, who defrauded 1 million manats from 14 people on behalf of the company “Kasco Insurance”.

Oku.AzAccording to the information of the Baku Serious Crimes Court, the defendant Farid Jalalov testified and claimed not to be guilty in the trial presided over by Judge Farid Namazov. He clarified the issues related to the victims by answering the questions of the judge and the prosecutor. Jalalov stressed that he handed over several cars to them in exchange for the sums he received from most of the persons identified as victims of the prosecution. He noted that he was unable to deliver the cars he promised in exchange for the money he received from certain persons.

“Those people made a lot of money through me, and when they made money, they also suffered losses,” Jalalov said, addressing the victims sitting in the courtroom.

During his testimony, Jalalov pleaded guilty to only three issues:

“Kamil and I met at a car dealership. I was buying a car and the neighbors saw it. The victim Yusif Babayev says that I allegedly caused him 29,200 manats in damage. I sold several cars. I sold three Toyota Corollas worth 7,000 manats. The victim Elshan Rustamov was also brought by my neighbor. He says that I have to pay 29,500 manats. I have registered the car in the name of his friend.

The victim, Sabuhi Rustamov, says that he owes 42,500 manats:

“Kamil Habilli has no role in this matter. I have registered the cars in the names of four acquaintances. I gave Seymour a Pajero, Ahliman a Santa Fe, Emin an X-35 and Zaur a Sonata. Between 15 and 20 cars for Bilal Muradzade he says I will give him 97,000. I gave him several cars.”

During his testimony, the defendant also claimed that he did not owe the victim Fakhri Jafarov 197,500 manat: “He gave me 55,000 manat and 30,000 manat. In return I gave everyone a car. Taleh Mirzayev says that I owe him 7,000 manat. I don’t know him at all. I owe Rafiq Valiyev 3,000 manat, I was supposed to give him 700 manat, but I couldn’t give him the rest. I feel guilty in three cases.”

The next court session is scheduled for September 23.

It should be noted that 14 people were recognized as victims in the criminal case and suffered a total loss of about one million manats. Kamil Habilli and Farid Jalalov were charged under Article 178.2.3 of the Criminal Code (committing mass fraud).
