The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday an increase in wages by 0.5% for about three million state officials and employees. This increase, which will be applied with a retroactive character since 2024, was an obligation contained in the agreement that the government reached UGT trade unions and working commissions in October 2022, and it was due to the accumulated inflation over the past three years remained higher than 8%, as finally confirmed in January. With this increase, which is the cumulative, in this last three -year race an accumulated increase by 10%, and in 2024 more – by 2.5% more.
From the publicly accessible functions of CCOO and UGT, they showed their “satisfaction” this morning until the inevitable approval of wage adjustment. However, in a joint press release, they criticized the “delay and insufficiency” of the executive branch. “This obligation goes on with 18 months of delay,” they indicate in the statement.
