The Association of Scientists made a statement in which she expressed great concern about repeated cases of poisoning caused by the use of corrupt alcohol types and condemned official statements that called for the choice of “good types” of wine or organize their sale with special cards, taking into account this contradiction with the provisions of Islamic Sharia and its principles.
The association confirmed that the ban on alcohol is fixed with the help of imperative texts from the Koran and Sunnah, and that any attempt to facilitate or organize its abuse is an encouragement of prohibited disobedience and threatens the religious and moral values of society.
The association emphasized its deviation from any proposals for regulating the sale of alcohol, and considered this a dangerous deviation from a legal decision and normalization with a great denial, warning about its health and social consequences, such as liver cirrhosis, family collapse and crime. It also required to avoid anger with the victims of poisoning, emphasizing the need to pray for them and the consideration of the incident.
This statement became a widespread public dispute after repeating cases of poisoning from falsified wines in Jordan and discuss the role of the state in the organization of alcohol to reduce health risks.
Official statements about the “market organization” caused a wide religious and popular criticism, especially in a conservative society that sees alcohol religious and moral danger, which prompted the association of scientists to give its firm statement in defense of Sharia principles and protect society from this phenomenon.
The Jordanian authorities expanded the official investigations in the case of alcohol Metalil (Methanol), which led to the death of seven people in Muhafaz Jordan Zarka last week.
The Director General of the Nutrition and Drug Corporation, Dr. Nizar Mahidat, announced the suspension of the work of three manufacturers of toxic substance and the closure of one of them after making sure that methanol is present in its tanks.
Machidat explained that these procedures occurred after the formation of four joint teams from the institution and security services, after he was convinced that Methanol was present in the victims and at the scene of the accident, which proves that the article was a direct cause of death.
He noted that there are safe and medical indicators that suggest that additional materials can be taken with methanol, and possibly contributed to a larger number of deaths, emphasizing that research and tests are still ongoing to accurately determine the details.
