Abascal to meet Milei in Argentina on Thursday

Javier Milei’s participation in the macro-event organized by Vox in Madrid in May filled the pages of Spanish newspapers with ink after the Argentine president called Begoña Gómez, Pedro Sánchez’s wife, corrupt.

His appearance on the stage of the Vistalegre Palace also caused a diplomatic crisis between Spain and Argentina after the decision of the Spanish Executive to dismiss its ambassador in Buenos Aires. Milei returned to Spain a month later, without controversy, but the interventions of the Argentine president never go unnoticed.

Javier Milei will meet again with his first host in Spain, Vox leader Santiago Abascal, this week in Argentina, where a meeting of the Madrid Forum, the training initiative with many leaders from other countries to fight against the left in Latin America, will be held.

Abascal will be in charge of the inauguration of the III Regional Meeting of the Madrid Forum “Rio de la Plata 2024”, which will take place next Thursday and Friday at the Palacio Libertad in Buenos Aires and will bring together more than 1,000 people.

The event is intended to be a demonstration of support for the Venezuelan opposition and a “cry for freedom.” The Vox leader hopes that this “great meeting” will serve “to recognize Edmundo González as the elected and legitimate president of Venezuela” and also to “continue consolidating” Vox’s alliances in Latin America against the Puebla Group and the Sao Paulo Forum.

Among the participants, the Argentine Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Diana Mondino and Luis Petri, stand out; Manuel Adorni, spokesman for the Argentine Presidency; Ernesto Araújo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and advisor to the international sector of the Disenso Foundation; José Antonio Kast, founder and president of the Republican Party of Chile.

Also present will be Venezuelan writer Alejandro Peña Esclusa; Hermann Tertsch, MEP and vice-president of the Patriots for Europe group of the European Parliament; José María Figaredo, secretary general of the VOX parliamentary group; Mark Klugmann, speechwriter for Ronald Reagan; and Alberto Benegas Lynch, president of the Economic Sciences Section of the National Academy of Sciences of Buenos Aires.
