Paralympian who won gold in Paris: “I saw the support of my people everywhere”

“I saw the support from my people on social media and everywhere.”

This was announced by Said Najafzadeh, who won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games held in France and represented Azerbaijan in the T12 long jump competition.

He recalled that he participated in the Paralympic Games for the second time:

“Three years ago I won a bronze medal in Tokyo 2020. This motivated me to prepare even better for the Paralympic Games in Paris. We worked hard. Before coming here, I was world champion and was considered among the favourites. That’s why I was so excited, thank you very much, I did it, I got the gold medal, I saw the support of my people on social media and everywhere. Ilham Aliyev and first vice president Mehriban Aliyeva I would like to express my gratitude for your attention to sports and the Paralympic Games. I am grateful to my coach, the Sports Club “Neftchi” of which I am a member, the National Paralympic Committee and its management, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their support.

It is worth noting that our T12 category para-athlete was proclaimed Paralympic champion in the long jump with a result of 7.27 metres.
