The Nevsky District Court of St. Petersburg has recovered from the convicted murderer in 2019 the money he received as payment for the murder, the joint press service of the city courts reported.
Evgeniy Popovwho is serving his 18-year sentence in a maximum security colony for contract murder (part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death (part 4 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), “earned” 628.5 thousand rubles. The customer for both crimes is Alexander Kaidanovsentenced to 17 years in a maximum security colony in 2021.
A representative of the prosecution filed a lawsuit seeking to apply the consequences of the invalidity of a void transaction and to recover funds.
“It follows from the verdicts that Popov, found guilty, received 628,516.50 rubles from Kaidanov: 30 thousand rubles for the beating B., $15,000 for murder TOThe court stated that … the agreements between Kaidanov and Popov on beatings and murders were concluded for a purpose obviously contrary to the foundations of law, order and morality and, accordingly, were void. Therefore, the funds are subject to recovery in state revenues.” – the message said.
In addition, the killer will have to pay a state fee of 9,485 rubles.
