Córdoba residents exceed all forecasts in food collection for areas devastated by DANA

The forecasts of Cordoba Town Hall about the food collection non-perishable items and certain materials necessary for cleaning and rescue work in the Valencian Community by the DANA effect They were overwhelmed by the massive response from the people of Cordoba. The Central Fire Station of Córdoba, located on Avenida de los Custodios, next to the Cordoba local police stationis a continuous pilgrimage of cars from the early hours of this Saturday morning with people leaving what they could: milk, water, canned goods, shovels, masks… It all started yesterday, Friday at noon, with the first Cordobans approaching the Custodians’ installations.

Members of the fire station and local police are unable to collect the donations piling up in the various rooms on campus. Firefighting and rescue service. That same afternoon, the line of vehicles stretched almost to the parking lot of the Salud Cemetery or Tomás de Aquino Collapse. It’s constant.

According to municipal sources, the Town Hall’s initial plan was to send a trailer with these donations to Valencia, but the wave of solidarity from the inhabitants of Cordoba led the City Hall to look for two more, that is to say they would be three trailers what Cordoba could send to the area devastated by DANA. But the same thing happens with space, the fire station has become too small and the Town Hall is looking for larger premises like The Fontanar and other municipal agencies.

New solidarity account of the Valencian Community

Like the capital, the entire province reproduces through its town halls, social groups, brotherhoods or sports organizations this collection of food or goods to be transported in an almost unprecedented movement.

THE Valencian generality created a solidarity account intended to support those affected by the DANA which hit the Valencian Community. Thanks to this initiative, citizens, entities and businesses will be able to make donations that will be used entirely to assist those affected and contribute to repairing the damage suffered.

The solidarity initiative is now operational thanks to Ministry of Finance, Economy and Public Administration in collaboration with Banco Sabadell. Interested people can make their donations to the following finalist account:

For every euro donated, Banco Sabadell has committed to contributing an additional euro, with a minimum entity contribution of 500,000 euros.
