The Ministry of Foreign Affairs processes AP citizens who were captured by the Power of Myanmar

JAKARTA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Indonesian embassy in Yangon have been treating an Indonesia citizen with initials captured by the Priva Office on December 20, 2024. AP is accused of illegally entered the Myanmar region, and then a meeting with armed groups categorized as prohibited organizations.

AP is subject to indictments that violate the law on the fight against terrorism, the 1947 immigration law and the Law on Article 17 (2) of illegal associations.

Since the beginning of the arrest, the Indonesian embassy in Yangon has conducted various efforts to defend, including sending diplomatic notes, access to consular and direct assistance during the audit, providing the protection of a lawyer and relieve communication between Arnold and his family.

After passing the trial, AP was sentenced to seven years in prison. AP is currently serving imprisonment in the prison of Insin, Yangon, Myanmar.

After constant legal force (Chinkrocht), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Indonesia and the Embassy of the Indonesian Embassy in accordance with a request for forgiveness from the family.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian embassy in Yangon will continue to monitor AP conditions during imprisonment.
