As the days pass and aid reaches ground zero of the tragedy, where emergency services and thousands of volunteers help wherever they can; In addition to the solidarity of all regions of the country, more technical data on the disaster are becoming increasingly known.
The territorial delegation of State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet) have updated the rainfall figures recorded last October 29, the day DANA broke out with force in eastern Spain, in different observatories in the province.
Some figures which clearly reflect the extent of this drop of cold which caused a disaster in the Valencian Community in what is the worst storm of the century.
One of the data revealed by the study is particularly striking: In the town of Turís, between 618 and 640 liters per square meter were achievedthis means that in three hours the same amount was reached as in the previous 21 months.
Avamet details that the capacity of the Rambla del Poyo, which ended up overflowing, is at the height of Loriguilla, but lower down, it collects the water that comes down from Godelleta, part of Turís, north of Montserrat and west of Torrentwhere it rained more than 600 l/m2. In this way, much more than 2,284 cubic meters per second.
Aemet explains that after restoring communications with the Turís meteorological station, the provisional accumulated rain data reflects 618.0 l/m2, with a maximum precipitation in one hour of 179.4 l/m2 and a maximum in ten minutes of 42.0 l/m.
