The BRICS summit in Kazan demonstrated the growing authority of the association, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with BRICS TV.
“The summit demonstrated the growing authority of the BRICS and the desire of more and more countries to join their work.” – said Lavrov.
He noted that a new category of association was agreed upon at the summit. According to the head of the Foreign Policy Department, several States have expressed interest in becoming BRICS partners.
Lavrov stressed that the BRICS declaration adopted at the October summit was adopted on the basis of the balance of interests, the search for mutually acceptable formulations and without pressure from any of the parties.
“Mutual understanding was reached on almost all important issues,” – added Lavrov.
