The 330 kV high-voltage power line “Ferrosplavnaya-1” at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant has been disconnected due to automation, the official Telegram channel reports on the situation at the station.
“The nuclear power plant’s own needs are supplied by the 750 kV Dneprovskaya line,” — the ZNPP press service clarified.
They recalled that all blocks of the station are currently in “cold shutdown” mode.
“Cold shutdown”: Stopping a nuclear reaction, cooling and maintaining the reactor at normal temperature and pressure for a long time for regular inspections. At the same time, the waste heat removal system and auxiliary cooling system continue to operate.
The environmental radiation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant is normal, representatives of the plant stressed.
The automation previously cut off this power line on August 23.
The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of installed capacity and the third largest in the world. Since February 2022, it has been under the control of the Russian military. Following the annexation of the Zaporozhye region to Russia, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree transferring the power plant to state ownership.
On September 2, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said that he had gone to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant “to prevent a nuclear accident,” RBC recalls.
