Without having to prove herself on the bike, Hannah Grant managed to make a name for herself in the world of professional cycling. It all started in the early 2010s, when the Danish chef was offered a position as a cook with the Saxo Bank Sungard (now Tinkoff) cycling team.

She, who was serving in a large restaurant, then makes a sharp turn. Aboard a truck converted into a traveling kitchen, you will accompany sports training during major competitions such as the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia or the Vuelta a España. It has a crucial mission: to prepare tailor-made meals, to allow athletes to optimize their performance.

Since then, Hannah Grant has become one of the leading experts on “show cooking.” In 2018, his adventures in the Tour de France were adapted to the screen in a successful series. Eat. Breed. Gain.streaming on Amazon Prime. She also just posted New Grand Tour Cookbook (Rossolis), expanded version of a previous work, in which he shares the wealth of his experience. In this beautiful book with a prologue by Bjarne Riis (a famous Danish cyclist), with a story interspersed with testimonies from professional runners, Hannah Grant offers one hundred and twenty recipes. Divided into twenty-one chapters, all have been designed to meet the dietary needs of athletes: meatballs “special rollers”rich in protein, to the wok of rice noodles that adhere to the body, through this terrine “rainbow” with tubers and “power cake” with potatoes and rhubarb (for a kick).

In addition to the preparations, we understand how, thanks to a balanced intake of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals, it is possible to put yourself in the best conditions to improve your time. At the end of the book, the author offers a “recovery food” : chicken burrito and protein drink made with peanut butter. Enough to ride again, at least until the next plateau.
