The world championship MotoGP is coming to an end, a closing of the season which has been traditionally celebrated for 22 years in the Ricardo Tormo Tour from Cheste. The DANA which devastated the province of Valencia and which caused more than 200 dead since last Tuesday, it has forced us to break with tradition. It is no longer time for celebrations, but for the gradual resumption of life in the villages devastated by the storm and for the eternal rest of the deceased.
Since announcing last Friday that the event scheduled for November 17 was canceled, Dorna has been working to move the final event of the course. Finally, the chosen location was The Barcelona-Catalonia circuit and the scheduled date will be maintained at first.
He MotoGP test scheduled for November 19 on the Ricardo Tormo de Cheste circuit will also pass to the Catalan route, where Marc Márquez will ride the official team’s Ducati for the first time and Jorge Martín will make his debut with Aprilia.

“The situation in Valencia and various places in Spain is very complicated. We owe it to all the fans in the world and to paddock to be able to celebrate this last event of the year. We asked the Generalitat of Catalonia to be able to celebrate it on the Barcelona circuit as we believe this is the best possible location due to its proximity to what was already planned. We are sorry about Valencia, but we will try to help you in any way possible.“, confirmed Carlos Ezpeleta, MotoGP sporting director, on Dazn.
“Celebrating a grand prix involves a lot of preparation, usually over a year. Doing it in 15 days is a challenge. We speak with many countries, but Barcelona is a very important city in the world. The intention is to do it there and do it in Valencia. The goal deserves it“, underlined Ezpeleta.
