The Taliban have introduced an absurd new ban on women

In a continuation of existing restrictions on women, the Taliban banned them from even communicating with each other in public.

The BILD publication writes about this.

According to the statement of Minister of Virtue Khalid Hanafi, adult women are now prohibited not only from communicating with men, but also from talking to each other in public places. Hanafi stated that women should not allow other women to hear their voices. This also includes the prohibition of reading the Quran aloud in the presence of other women.

Since the Taliban came to power in August 2021, strict measures have been introduced in Afghanistan: women are prohibited from receiving education, going out without a male companion, and communicating with men in public. They are also prohibited from visiting parks, playing sports and swimming.

Additionally, the Taliban closed beauty salons and women’s shelters and a law protecting women from violence was repealed. Women are often subjected to public beatings and imprisonment for “un-Islamic behavior,” a definition that can be included in almost any action.
It was previously reported that the Taliban also banned women from singing and looking at men. Another decree prohibited playing music on public transportation and required female passengers to be accompanied by a male guardian.

By the way, as Reuters reported, the Taliban’s Ministry of Morality also has lawsuits against men: more than 280 members of the security forces were fired for not growing beards. In addition, last year more than 13 thousand people were arrested for “immoral acts.” However, approximately half of those detained were released within 24 hours.

Recall that Kursor wrote that the Afghan Taliban expressed strong condemnation of recent Israeli attacks on military targets in Iran, warning that such actions could aggravate the situation and increase tension in the Middle East.
