Rzayev Elkhan Ariz oglu is one of our heroes who fought for the homeland and reached the peak of martyrdom.
On September 29, 2020, Elkhan, the only son of the Rzayev family, will fight to defend the Homeland. Barely a week before the end of the war, he was heroically martyred in the battles in the direction of Gubadli. After his death, Elkhan Rzayev was awarded the medals “For the Fatherland”, “For the liberation of Jabrayil”, “For the liberation of Gubadli” and “Brave warrior”.
It should be noted that Elkhan Rzayev was born on April 15, 1994 in the village of Ghazli, Sabirabad region. Elkhan, who received his secondary education in 2000-2011 at the comprehensive secondary school in the village of Gazli named after B. Rahimov, entered the Baku State Informatics School after graduating from high school. In 2012, when he was called to active military service, he left his studies and went to fulfill his duty to the country. Elkhan, who distinguished himself with his discipline and competence during his military service, was discharged from the army in 2014 and continues his studies. Since 2017 he has been working as a teacher at the secondary school in Garagashli village. He is constantly thinking about improving his education. In 2020, he was admitted to Sumgayit State University. With the start of the Second Karabakh War, he abandoned his studies and voluntarily went to the front.

“I felt comfortable only with him”
Elkhana’s mother, Gulnara Rzayeva, shared with us her memories of her son’s childhood: “My son stood out among his peers from his childhood. He was such a kind child that… Although he was small, he had a big heart. He was a patriot from childhood. He excelled in school. He never disobeyed his parents’ words. Elkhan was the only brother of two sisters.
His sister Aynura says that Elkhan’s rights as a brother cannot be paid: “Just as he protected us, he also protected the Homeland. Martyrdom is a highlight. Everyone is proud of that highlight. But we We were proud of Elkhan even during her life, because she always held our heads high. She was always proud to say, “I’m the teacher’s sister.” She didn’t let anyone use the word against us. , I wanted to go with him. I felt very proud with him. He always said: “I’m a boy, don’t go with my sister.” I always insisted that “I’m lonely now.”
“He had photographs of our martyrs on his computer”
In addition to protecting his sisters, Elkhan also took care of them: “He had such a serious character that we avoided him as much as our parents. If he said ‘no’, for us it was already a law. He always tried to be an example and educate us. We fasted together, we prayed. He prepared everything himself, took photographs of my children and saved them on his computer.
Elkhan was loved not only by his family, but also by the town community. According to Mrs. Aynura, everyone gathered around her. As a child, he earned the respect and love of both adults and children: “He was quite polite. Due to his high level of speaking ability, he was always praised at all gatherings. Elkhan was very patriotic. He loved even more his homeland. It is difficult for us to express our opinion about him in words.
“He knew how to communicate with children very well”
Elkhan was also a computer science teacher. During the time he worked at the school, he earned great respect from both students and teachers: “His students and fellow teachers speak of him with tears and pain. The children cannot accept their teacher’s absence. His students They always say that “Mr. “Elkhan taught us not only computer science, but also life.”
According to Khanali Gubadov, Elkhan’s friend and fellow teacher, he was the children’s favorite: “Elkhan and I took the exam in the same year and were admitted to the secondary school in the village of Garagashli. We have been working together since 2017. Elkhan was not only a fellow teacher. We were both friends and brothers in our school. He was very kind to everyone. The students eagerly waited for Elkhan’s class, lined up and headed to the computer room. His martyrdom had a very bad effect. in all of us.”
“I’m going to war”
Kh. Gubadov says that his friend entrusted him with his students before leaving for the war: “Master Elkhan always spoke about Karabakh with great regret. He left for the war on September 29. Before leaving, he called me first. It was early in the morning , I was in class. He said about the war, I’m leaving. I didn’t believe what I heard, I thought he was joking. He said: “I’m at the police station, I called you to say goodbye to the teachers and students.” , and do not spare me your prayers.” Unfortunately, although our lands have returned, Elkhan has not returned… But he is always in our hearts and with us.”
“If I don’t go, who will?”
His sister Aynura remembers Elkhan’s departure for the war: “On September 27, the day the war started, we were all sitting together on the balcony. When Elkhan found out that the war had started, he was happy. He told him so. to my father, “fortunately, we will return our lands.” That same day, he went and submitted a request to the volunteer commissariat. When he was at home, he sent supplies to the front along with his friends. many times that “you are a teacher, your students need you. Maybe you shouldn’t go.” “I’m going to liberate our land from the occupation,” he said. He didn’t let us get angry. The day before he left for the front, he said goodbye to his friends at night. We were afraid to tell him “no.” Go.” He also did not let his friends finish his words. He said: “Although I am the only son, if I do not go, who will go?” Go?! We walked upside down alongside the enemy. I am suffering because our lands are occupied “. He didn’t even let us pass when we left. He encouraged us to say: “don’t be afraid, this is just a preparatory phase.” He went to war with great enthusiasm. “
“I saw his heroism with my own eyes”
The deputy commander of the unit, Senior Ensign Ruslan Khalilov, remembers Elkhan as a patriotic, brave and brave fighter: “Elkhan was one of the soldiers who voluntarily joined the war. We later found out that he was a teacher. He was selected among the We fought together from September 27 to October 8. I saw his heroism with my own eyes. He was a fearless soldier. He always wanted to go further and liberate our lands and said: “even if he is.” On this path, the main thing is that our lands are not under the feet of the enemy.
He kept his serious injury a secret from his family.
Elkhan was seriously wounded in the battle, but told his family “I fell.” According to Gulnara Rzayeva, the news was heard in the village community: “We were in contact with him every day. Fifteen days later, news spread in the village that Elkhan had been wounded. Speakers say they were ambushed , that his car was destroyed. He was hit by a mine. We were also in contact with him at that time because we just talked to Elkhan and he told us that “everything is fine, don’t worry.” I’m safe.” We said we wanted to see you and your father. Then he said, “I will go to Agjabedi for a day.” You say he came to change his bandage. By then, his wounds were slowly healing. And in Agjabedi, he insisted: “We don’t see war, I am one of the frontline soldiers. But when I hit him on the arm, he said: “I fell. In the training “When they martyred him they told us that they did not remove the suture from the wound.”
“He returned to fighting before his wound healed”
Ruslan Khalilov was with him in the battle in which Elkhan was wounded: “On October 8 we had to make a reconnaissance stop in the Jabrayil-Hadrut direction. At that time we were ambushed. Elkhan was wounded during that battle. We fought on enemy until the evening after the situation calmed down, the other wounded and Elkhan we sent him to the hospital. After that, I heard that Elkhan had returned to the army, but he had not recovered news that he was martyred in the battle for Spring. plain.”
“As if I knew in advance…”
After Elkhan rejoined the battle, he began to talk less to his family. A few days before the end of the war, his family received the bitter news. His sister Aynura says they kept the news of his martyrdom from the Rzayev family: “He was treated in the hospital for a few days, but before fully recovering, he voluntarily returned to the war zone to pay his debt to the Motherland. He encouraged to my mother and father and sent them back. When he was in Aghjabedi, I was weak, he told us to be strong. He told me that he would not return to the war zone that day but we could not talk to him once. twice. Then, on November 1, the whole town knew about him, but no one dared to tell us. On November 2, they told us that “Elkhan is injured, let’s do it.” We couldn’t believe he was a martyr until they brought him to our town.
Although Elkhan passed away physically, he always lives on in the hearts of his loved ones. For four years, commemorative events in honor of Elkhan Rzayev have been held every November.
