Iran wants to convene the UN Security Council: reaction from the Israeli Foreign Ministry

Iran has called for an urgent convening of the UN Security Council to condemn the recent Israeli airstrikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic. This has already provoked a corresponding reaction from Israel.

In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that Minister Abbas Araghchi sent an appeal to the UN Secretary General and the head of the Security Council demanding an immediate meeting to take a decisive position against this “aggression.”

Araghchi claims that a significant portion of the Israeli projectiles were successfully intercepted by Iranian air defense systems, but the attack still caused damage in several locations and the death of four Iranian soldiers. According to the minister, this attack represents a “serious violation of the sovereignty” of Iran, which “reserves the inalienable right to retaliate against this criminal aggression.”

Israel, in turn, expressed its deep dissatisfaction with Iran’s demand to the UN Security Council. Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, commented on the situation and said that Iran is trying to harm Israel on a diplomatic level:

“This is yet another attempt by Iran to harm us, this time in the diplomatic arena. We will defend Israel’s right to self-defense.”

In response to Iran’s request, the UN Security Council plans to meet on Monday, October 28, to discuss the developments. Israel, however, insists that its actions do not violate international law.

Ambassador Danon expressed extreme outrage at the need for such a debate, adding:

“Following the IDF’s successful operation on Iranian soil, in response to the direct and unprecedented attacks they carried out against Israel this year, Iran is also trying to act against us in the diplomatic sphere, making ridiculous accusations that Israel has violated international law.”

Danon stressed that Israel will use all possible means to protect its citizens and, as before, it has every right to do so.

“We will not allow Iran to hide behind its proxies. If Iran continues to threaten us, it will pay a high price for it,” the ambassador said.

Previously, Kursor spoke about how Israel’s attack on Iran made Russia’s situation worse.
