The consolidation of the northern slope of the Villa de Cabra district, a challenge for 2025

In 2025, the Cabra Town Hall will undertake intervention on the northern slope of the Villa districtwho has been recording for over a decade structural problems which affect the buildings of the castle of the Counts of Cabra, in particular the Juana Tower; at the convent of the RR.MM. The Franciscans can even cause problems in the parish of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption and in Angeles, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) like the castle itself.

Thus, last Monday, the plenary session of the municipal corporation urgently approved the collaboration agreement with the Provincial Delegation of Cordoba so that the public company Tragsa -which undertook the work completed last year in the same medieval fortress- is once again responsible for carrying out the next intervention.

With a budget greater than three million eurosfuture actions will focus on a very degraded space, where weeds and wild flora completely cover the ancient medieval remains, whose importance is less known than the south face, since it is an area in which interventions have been carried out in recent decades only in the Juana Tower itself.

Project approved in 2022

It should be noted that the project was approved in 2022 and will be financed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the amount of which The town hall will provide the 874,158 euroswhich represents 28.74 percent of the total investment. Precisely in the municipal budgets of said year, an item of 500,000 euros already appeared for the aforementioned intervention, although the draft accounts approved for 2024 do not include the amount of 3.2 million euros, which will be the total amount allocated to rehabilitation. from the northern slope of the Villa.

There is none yet specific date for the start of some works that will change the perception of the environment as we know it today due to the richness of the vegetation accumulated on the slope and which does not allow us to distinguish from afar, at least, as it This is the case on the southern slope, presence of sections of wall.

The northern slope of the Villa Egabrense district demarcates the river bed Tejera Creektherefore access to the areas to be intervened could be a little more complicated, according to municipal sources.
