BTS Jimin’s ‘Like Crazy’ Sells 2 Million Units in the US! Recording Industry Association of America ‘Double Platinum’

BTS’s Jimin has made history in American K-pop.

Jimin’s “Like Crazy” sold over 2 million units in the United States on August 22, earning it a double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This is a record achieved in just 518 days since its release.

“Like Crazy” has set the record for the first and only K-pop solo artist in the past 10 years. “Like Crazy” received Platinum certification from the RIAA as a K-pop solo artist in August last year, but the final confirmation was made on November 30 due to the agency’s late application, so K-pop fans are paying attention to see if quick action will be taken this time.

Jimin’s first solo album ‘Face’, released in March 2023, titled ‘Like Crazy’, topped Billboard’s main song chart ‘Hot 100’ immediately after its release, becoming the first Korean solo artist to top Billboard’s ‘Artist 100’ chart, becoming the first and only K-pop solo artist to top the chart, and leaving a mark on the Korean pop music industry by sweeping major music charts in the United States.

In addition, the album ‘Face’ ranked second on Billboard’s main album chart ‘Billboard 200’, the highest ranking for a K-pop solo artist at the time, and in June of the same year, it became the first non-English (Korean) album by an Asian solo artist to be certified gold.

In response to the popularity of ‘Like Crazy’, the New York Times of the United States published ’20 First Things That Happened in 2023′, which covers social, scientific, space and environmental issues around the world, and selected Jimin as the only person in the music category to top Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’, and TIME magazine also highlighted Jimin’s great achievements in the music section of its special edition ‘The Year in Review’, which caused a great stir. Meanwhile,

Jimin’s local status, known as ‘Jimin’ (Jimin + America), continued with the title track ‘Who’ from his second solo album ‘Muse’ released this year. It sold over 500,000 units in the US in just 29 days since its release, was certified gold by the RIAA, and is enjoying popularity, breaking his own record for the shortest period of time for a K-pop solo song.
