A 72-year-old man was rescued by helicopter after falling more than 10 metres on a slope in Cantabria

This afternoon, the helicopter team of the Government of Cantabria rescued a 72-year-old man who fell more than 10 meters down a steep slope in San Roque de Riomiera (Cantabria). He was transferred with monitored forecasts.

A person driving on a nearby road saw the fall from afar in an area of ​​significant unevenness and a surface of stone and fern, and notified the Emergency Assistance Center 112 of the Executive report before 5:00 p.m.

112 mobilized the team of medical helicopter to help them, as reported by the emergency services in a press release.

Once on site, a rescuer and the doctor lowered the victim using a crane, where they assessed and stabilised him.

Once the emergency care was done, they had hoisted the victim to the helicopter and they evacuated him, under medical supervision, to the Seve Ballesteros airport, from where an ambulance from 061 took him to the Marqués de Valdecilla hospital to be treated for the injuries he presents with a first diagnosis of polytrauma, while waiting for hospital examinations.
