This Saturday morning, Maritime Rescue located a canoe with 60 and 70 migrants while they were sailing about ten miles south of La Restinga, in the waters of El Hierro.

Around 9:30 a.m., 112 Canaries reported a call from a boat who had entered El Hierro via a repeater, but without a specific position. The alert was confirmed around 10 a.m. with the sighting of the canoe, for which Acrux sea rescue services were mobilized.

Ships in the area have been alerted to extreme conditions monitoring in order to report their observation, which was finally confirmed by the Civil Guard after receiving an echo on the radar.

The boat has already been found and is being navigated to its position to escort it to port, where the official count of the number of migrants will take place.
