A Civil Guard in Plainclothes and a Neighbor Save a 93-Year-Old Man Bleeding to Death in Gandía

A Civil Guard agent on leave has her of a probable death to a 93 year old man who bled due to a deep head injury with the help of a neighbor from Gandía, as reported by the Armed Institute in a statement.

The man was in serious illness in his house in this Valencian city and the agent succeeded stabilize it because he was bleeding, in addition to suffering from various fracturesuntil he was rushed to Francisco de Borja Hospital.

This happened on Saturday, September 7, when the off-duty agent of the Alicante Command’s Explosives Deactivation Group (GEDEX) heard a faint call for help while walking down a street in Gandia.

Faced with the lack of response and the urgency of the matter, he decided to act immediately. Arriving in front of the door of the house, which was not properly closed, he decided to force entry to check what was happening.

Inside he found the old man lying on the ground, semi-consciouswith a hurt serious in the head which he appeared to have suffered after falling against the banister of the stairs. He also had a broken leg, was bleeding from the mouth and had symptoms of shock.

Without wasting time, the agent improvised with material found in the environment to contain the bleeding, applying pressure to the old man’s head wound. At the same time, he checked his state of consciousness, trying to obtain information about his identity and possible family members.

During these tasks, he benefited from the help of a women who was nearby to continue to control the hemorrhage and be able to request emergency medical assistance.

A few minutes later, a Basic Life Support vehicle arrived at the scene (SVB) and, simultaneously, a patrol of the Local police de Gandía also went to the house to offer his support.

Eventually, the 93-year-old was quickly transferred to the Hospital Francisco de Borja, where he received emergency treatment. He is currently at home out of hazard.
