A class action lawsuit has been filed against McDonald’s in the United States following mass poisonings.

Consumers have filed a class-action lawsuit against McDonald’s after E. coli was discovered in the restaurant chain’s burgers, Reuters reports.

Previously, NBC News reported that the American Clarissa Debockwho lives in Nebraska, filed a lawsuit against McDonald’s after being the victim of a massive E. coli outbreak that spread across ten US states.

“In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Chicago, Amanda McCray AND William Michael Craft “said they experienced a variety of E. coli-related symptoms after purchasing hamburgers this month.” – the agency said in a statement.

The plaintiffs sought damages for all Americans who received E. coli from the burgers. They also said they would not have bought their burgers if the company had warned customers about the contamination risks.

Previously, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that 49 people in the US became ill with E. coli after eating hamburgers at McDonald’s, of which ten people were hospitalized and another died. The organization later reported that the number of Americans poisoned exceeded 70 people and 22 were hospitalized.

CBS previously reported that McDonald’s had removed the Royal Cheeseburger from the menu at 20% of its U.S. restaurants following an E. coli outbreak believed to have been caused by raw onions. NBC News also claimed that major American fast food chains Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut, after McDonald’s, have removed onions from their products in some restaurants.
