A trade and logistics city called Manas is planned to be built near Bishkek, Sputnik Kyrgyzstan reports.
According to the agency, the project will be implemented by the Kyrgyz-Chinese investment holding company. The akim (head of administration) of the Alamudun region was instructed to provide 456 hectares for construction over 49 years.
At the same time, 51% of the shares in the management company will belong to the investor and 49% to the government of the republic. Ten percent of the housing stock in the future city will be transferred to the state.
The agreement on this project was recently signed during a meeting between Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov and the Chinese delegation.
Manas will include a commercial city, an international exhibition centre, a warehousing and logistics centre with free trade zones, markets for large equipment, and residential and hotel complexes.
The investment volume will be 700 million dollars.
