The councilor of the Valencian city of Alfara of the Patriarca Marcos B., an independent included in the municipal group of the PP, presented his resignation after being arrested and charged in a case opened for the crime of harassment and threats against his former romantic partner.
The former leader communicated his decision in writing to the “popular” group and justified his decision by saying that he does not want to harm the party’s action at the local level, according to party sources. The former councilor denies having committed the acts for which he was arrested.
Staff of the Civil Guard The former city councilor was arrested for allegedly harassing and threatening his former romantic partner and was placed on Saturday at the disposal of the Instruction Court 3 of Sueca, which was on duty, and which accepted his provisional release with the precautionary measure of withdrawal and prohibition of communication regarding the victim, in a case opened for the crime of harassment/threats, without prejudice to a subsequent filing.
According to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV), the court recused itself from the proceedings in favor of the Courts of Violence against Women of Valencia, competent to continue the investigation, in accordance with the Integral Law VioGén, because the plaintiff has her domicile in said judicial district.
The government team, composed of PSPV and compromiseexpressed his “firm” condemnation of the events and expressed his “solidarity” with the victim in a statement in which he stressed that the Alfara City Council, like any public entity, “must represent a space free of violence and, above all, must demonstrate particular sensitivity in protecting women from gender-based violence.
The government team asked the mayor resigns will be investigated until the situation is clarified through the courts, because public functions “imply a duty to set an example and the seriousness of the facts investigated is incompatible with the work of advisor in the provincial corporation.”
PP mediator in Les CortsJuanfran Perez Llorcawho condemned the events, explained that the person being investigated is an independent councilor and not a member of the PP, and therefore they could not exclude him from the party.
