Two people died after a small plane crashed in a mountainous area in the municipality of Cimanes del Tejarin the province of León, as reported by the emergency service in an event that occurred at 2:38 p.m. this Friday, November 22.
The Air Force Air Search and Rescue Service informed the operations room of the 112 of Castilla y León that it had lost contact with a small plane with two people on board. All about fifteen kilometers from León. They indicated that it was a local flight with takeoff and landing at the León airfield.
The emergency center notified the Civil Guard, the León Fire Department and the Military Emergency Unit (UME). Also to the local police of Valverde de la Virgen, the environment of León, the Red Cross and Sacyl.
As a preventive measure, also at the Council’s Emergency Coordination Center, which coordinated the search for the aforementioned plane.
From the emergency, the Junta rescue helicopter was dispatched to the plane’s last known coordinate point, which coordinated the search efforts. The Civil Guard sent a helicopter and the SAR one of its helicopters, activating an air coordination plane.
During the searches carried out in the area, the Civil Guard located the crashed plane in a mountainous area in the municipality of Cimanes de Tejar (León).
On site, emergency services confirmed the death of its occupants. As confirmed by official sources, it is a marriage originating from Ponferrada. The man was 69 years old and the woman was 67 years old.
