A criminal case has been opened against two inspectors of the Migration Affairs Department and one inspector of the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow, according to the announcement made today, September 3, at the Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee in Moscow.
“Criminal cases have been opened against two inspectors of the Migration Affairs Department and one inspector of the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow. They are suspected of having committed crimes under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud),” – the message said.
According to the investigation, no later than August 7, “law enforcement officers” in the performance of their official duties provided foreign citizens with false information that they had the opportunity to reduce the duration of their stay in Russia. Thus, law enforcement officers received at least 80 thousand rubles from foreigners for the purpose of personal enrichment. However, this did not affect the duration of their stay due to the lack of such powers among employees.
The criminal activities of the accused were revealed thanks to the well-planned work of investigators from the Moscow Investigative Committee and employees of the Internal Security Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow. During the searches, officers seized items and documents indicating their involvement in the crime.
