Testimonies have emerged from remorseful members of a group in Istanbul that made illegal profits by referring babies to affiliated hospitals and caused their deaths through negligent behaviour.

One of the suspects who told the terrible details, medical worker Hakan Doğukan Taşci, admitted that he wrote medical documents instead of the doctor and sold illegal drugs and expressed his regret. Another suspect, medical worker Hasan Basri Gok, said a baby brought to the hospital was put to sleep with strong narcotics and then despite the intervention, the baby started turning blue due to a heart abnormality, but was kept in to the hospital with the indicated medications.
According to official statistics, more than 3,000 babies died suspiciously in hospitals in Türkiye in the last 10 years. Experts say this is due to negligence and illegal actions of medical workers.
An indictment has been prepared following the investigation of the criminal group that profited from illegal activities and deliberately caused the death of newborns with their careless behavior. The accusation was sent to the Bakırköy Prosecutor’s Office for evaluation.
The judicial investigation into the accusation continues.
