A day of cleansing was held in the capital of Tajikistan on the occasion of the upcoming 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. This is reported by Sputnik Tajikistan.
According to the agency, the goal of the event was to honor the memory of soldiers of the Soviet army, famous figures of science and art of Tajikistan, as well as to arrange monuments and burials in the “Alley of Heroes.”
The action was attended by military veterans, student volunteers, social activists, servicemen from the Russian military base 201, as well as employees of the Russian Embassy in the republic.
“The attitude of the Tajik authorities towards historical memory is identical to that in Russia. <> Throughout the republic there are a large number of monuments dedicated to war heroes, and we must pay tribute: everywhere our compatriots, with the help of veterans and local authorities, take care of these graves,” – stated the Russian ambassador to the Republic of Tatarstan Semyon Grigoriev.
He noted the need to “preserve the memory of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and together resolutely resist any attempts to distort and falsify history, revise the results of the Great Patriotic War and justify the monstrous atrocities committed by the Nazis.”
More than 180 graves of front-line soldiers, internal workers, heroes of the Soviet Union, famous scientists and government figures of Tajikistan were cleaned during the cleaning.
