A suspicious reconnaissance UAV was discovered near the British Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, moored in the port of Hamburg, and disappeared after failed attempts to disable it, German tabloid Bild reports.
According to the publication, the event occurred on Friday, November 22. Hamburg river police detected an unknown drone “measuring 1.5 by 1.5 metres” above a British aircraft carrier. The Bundeswehr anti-drone squad, using special jammers, tried to force the UAV to make an emergency landing, but was unsuccessful: it managed to hide in the container terminal area. At the same time, the owner of the terminal is supposedly the Chinese side, Bild claims.
It should be noted that it was not possible to find the drone or those who controlled it. Police believe the UAV was spying on the aircraft carrier.
The Times newspaper, citing sources, previously called the aircraft carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales the “weak link” in the British navy due to their vulnerability to missiles, noting that the construction of each of them cost the country 3.91 billion dollars. reminds RIA Novosti.
