A group of NATO ships arrived in Tallinn

A NATO naval group consisting of six ships, including British, Norwegian, French, Dutch and Belgian, arrived in the Estonian capital Tallinn. The ERR TV channel reported this on November 30.

“On Friday and Saturday, six ships from NATO’s first permanent naval group arrived in Tallinn for a visit. The first to dock in the old port of Tallinn on Friday was the British frigate HMS Iron Duke.” – says the message.

On 30 November the remaining ships arrived, including the group’s flagship, the Norwegian HNoMS Maud.

ERR reports on the words of the head of the Estonian Navy Ivo Vark that the group acts as the “main attack force” of the naval forces of the political-military bloc. He also noted that the ships’ presence in Estonia is related to “NATO regional defense plans.”

A day earlier, NATO began the TUMAK 24 military exercises in Poland, 70 kilometers from the border with Russia. The training is carried out by the 16th Mechanized Division of the Polish Army and the allied forces of NATO, about 2.5 thousand soldiers participate in it and 800 units of military equipment are used. The main element of the exercise is the crossing of Lake Kępno with tanks at the Orzysz training ground.

The day before, on November 28, the ERR television channel reported that NATO countries plan to hold military exercises “Lightning” (Picne) in Estonia from December 2 to 15. These include the arrival of allied ships, the conduct of air operations and the expansion of the alliance’s presence in the northeast of the Baltic republic, Izvestia recalls.
