A group of soldiers from the Marine Corps interrupted their cleaning and rescue work in Paiporta (Valencia) for a few minutes to sing a local child’s birthday. Subsequently, the soldiers continued their work, but left to posterity an image of tenderness among the vestiges of the tragedy experienced by DANA.
The President of Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this week the sending of 5,000 additional soldiers and 5,000 national police and civil guards to the Valencian Community to work in areas affected by the storm. This reinforcement complements the more than 2,500 soldiers, 1,800 national police and 2,700 civil guards already deployed in the area. In total, 17,000 soldiers will work in the area.
The DANA which devastated the Mediterranean coast is, until now, left 223 dead and 50 missing.
