A psychologist from one of Azerbaijan’s secondary schools committed fraud against a Kuwaiti citizen.
According to information obtained by “Qafqazinfo”, Aytekin Samadova, 36 (name and surname provided), abused the trust of Kuwaiti Abdullah Almatrouka, whom she met through Snapchat.
A foreign citizen came to Baku to start a new business together with a friend. During this period, Abdullah, who developed a relationship with Aytekin, met him several times at different locations in the capital. Even after returning to his country, he did not cut off contact with the woman. He even invited her to Dubai and the couple rested in the expensive places of the city. The foundations of the crime were laid on the eve of this holiday.
During the conversation, the foreigner said that he wants to do something that generates income in Azerbaijan. Aytekin convinced him that one of the best ways to earn income in Baku is to buy an apartment and rent it to foreign guests. The fact that foreign citizens cannot buy apartments in Azerbaijan is based on lies. He suggested that the apartment be purchased in his name, and Abdullah agreed. After Aytekin returned to Baku, they sent him 497 thousand 478 manats to start work. From that money, the woman bought an apartment for 382,000 manats and used the rest for her personal interests.
Abdullah said in court that after Aytak took possession of the apartment, his relations with him cooled. This situation also raised doubts. After that, the first thing he did was contact one of the law firms in Baku. After learning from the lawyer that there are no major restrictions on foreigners buying apartments in Azerbaijan, he realized that he had been deceived. Based on his complaint, Aytekin assumed criminal responsibility. During the investigation and the judicial investigation it was not necessary to detain him, he went back and forth from his home to the trial.
The accused pleaded not guilty in court. She said she was in a relationship with Abdullah for the purpose of marriage. The apartment in question was bought to live together. He sold the apartment after their relationship broke down. Finally, he asked the court for absolution, saying that the apartment is compensation for the material and moral damage he suffered.
The accusation brought in the case before the Baku Serious Crimes Court has been proven to be justified. The judges presided over by Shalala Hasanova concluded that the defendant actually committed fraud against a foreign citizen.
According to the verdict, Aytekin was sentenced to 6 years and 10 months in prison. He was arrested in the courtroom and sent to the detention center.
