A helicopter with three people disappeared in Russia

The Robinson R66 helicopter crashed in the taiga in the Zeysk district of the Amur region of the Russian Federation. The fate of the three people on board is still unknown. A large-scale search and rescue operation is currently underway.

Oku.Az reports this with reference to Russian media.

The tragedy occurred on September 16, when the helicopter’s emergency beacon was activated.

According to the press service of the Main Department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Amur Region, the helicopter was performing an unregistered flight over the territory of the Zeysk municipal district.

The search for the missing helicopter has begun.

Investigators have already opened a criminal case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of air traffic and operational safety rules). All circumstances and causes of this event will be investigated.

The Robinson R66 helicopters are light single-engine aircraft widely used for private flights and various services. Accidents involving these reliable aircraft are rare.
