“At the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), we expect the participation of a large high-level delegation from the UK Government, as well as numerous representatives of the British business and civil society.
Nick Baker, head of the COP29 department of the British embassy in Azerbaijan, told the “Report” about this saying.
According to him, British society has a great interest in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the field of climate and environmental protection.
N. Baker noted that after Azerbaijan was elected host of COP29 in December 2023, cooperation between the two countries has been significantly strengthened: “COP29 President, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Mukhtar Babayev, was received by King Charles III. A meeting with members of the government visited Baku. Representatives of the British COP26 team, including the former president of the conference, Alok Sharma.
“London Climate Action Week is one of the leading events in the field of climate initiatives. The COP29 team used this platform to present the priorities of the upcoming November summit to the global climate audience. One of the organizers of London Climate Week participates in the preparation of the first Baku Climate Action Week, which will be held from September 30 to October 4,” he emphasized.
