A Lithuanian TV channel fired a blogger who called for execution for Russian culture

Public broadcaster LRT has stopped cooperating with TV presenter Algis Ramanauskas amid an ongoing investigation by the prosecution. This is reported by the BNS portal.

“The public broadcaster applies the highest ethical standards not only to its staff, but also to all program creators, presenters and actors, since their statements in the public space are often associated with LRT,” – the television company said in a statement.

The role played by Ramanauskas in one of the LRT programs will be transferred to another presenter.

In October, the Vilnius district prosecutor’s office launched a pretrial investigation into a TV presenter’s remarks about consumers of Russian culture. According to the department, the investigation is still ongoing. An investigation was opened due to a public call for violence and physical violence against a group of people or people belonging to it, due to their nationality and language.

As reported EADailyRamanauskas blogs on the YouTube platform. He had previously “become famous” for more than one statement that incited hostility and hatred.

However, the matter has not yet reached the point of investigation by the prosecution. In an episode of his YouTube channel in September this year, the blogger said that parents who play a movie or song in Russian at full volume should be filmed.

“The question here is what to do first: take the children and then shoot them (the parents. – Ed.) or in front of the children… No, of course, first take the children and then shoot them. Those people should have their children taken away from them.” – said Ramanauskas.

Later, he justified that he was not talking about “Russian-speaking residents of Lithuania,” to whom he addressed “my dear fellow citizens,” but only about Lithuanians who consume “the Kirkorovs and all this terrible culture.”
