Agents from the Aragon Police Headquarters came across a surprising image last Monday in Zaragoza. Without knowing it, a police officer was patrolling the streets of the Delicias neighborhood with a badge. Even if it turned out to be false.

The events occurred last Monday, when around 1 p.m., two agents belonging to the UCRIF were carrying out prevention work in the Delicias area. In order to clarify the facts, one of the agents questioned the young woman, who explained to him that this person had approached her and after identifying himself as a police officerhad asked for her papers and information about another woman, then returned her card and left.

At the same time, one of the officers followed the suspect and went a few blocks later to arrest him and ask him to identify himself. It ended up coming out of his wallet a police badge and recognized moments later that it was a fake.

When asked for an explanation as to why he was carrying this illicit ID and why he had approached the young woman minutes before asking for her papers, He gave no coherent answer. QConsequently, he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the offense of usurpation of public office and trespass.

The detainee, who had several criminal records, was placed a few hours later at the disposal of the duty investigating court, which ordered his release with charges.

The offense of usurpation of functions is characterized in the Penal Code, in article 402, which establishes that: “Anyone who illegally exercises acts of authority or public agent, attributing to him an official capacity, will be punished with prison sentence of one to three years“.
