A 68-year-old man with a criminal record allegedly killed a 94-year-old resident in the early hours of Thursday in Vitoria. According to ‘El Correo’, the events occurred while the rest of the residents of the center were resting. The elderly woman was taken alive to Txagorritxu Hospital, where she died around 8 a.m. from injuries inflicted on her face with a sharp object, as detailed by the Ertzaintza in a note.
The Ertzaintza, which is carrying out an open investigation to clarify the facts, arrested the 68-year-old man, also a resident of the same center, as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of homicide. “Officers inspected the facilities at the aged care center and launched a citywide search operation due to the possibility he may have absconded. Finally, he was found hiding in the toilet of a locker room in the residence itself,” Basque police explained in a statement.
